I've been fascinated by maps since I was very young. I have a really big collection of cartographic sources from cheap throwaway maps from car rental companies to large atlases and nautical charts. Some of the pages of my favorite atlases have such exquisite colors and shapes and I can hardly bare to cut them up.

These collages are almost like a puzzle to me; the challenge of finding a piece of map that is just the right color, cutting it to just the right size, figuring out which pieces need to be laid down first, and seeing the whole come together, creating something recognizable but with it's own character too.
